Il modello di dimensioni poco superiori a quello del manuale del set 7 è in effetti molto più dettagliato e fedele all’originale, uno degli ultimi Liverpool Corporation Buses, l’ A.E.C. Regent V. In copertina del Meccano Magazine di marzo 1954 vi è la foto del Bus in servizio sulla linea 86. Questo era un autobus a due piani con motore anteriore prodotto dalla Associated Equipment Company tra il 1954 e il 1969. Il Regent V è stato l’ultimo realizzato della gamma di autobus a due piani Regent prodotti dalla AEC.

La carrozzeria di questi mezzi aveva una lunghezza di 10 m (34 ft), per cui la scala del modello è di circa 1:19 in lunghezza e  1:18  in larghezza, quindi molto proporzionato. Con piccole modifiche l’ho reso realizzabile con la scatola 8 posteriore al 1954 (presenza delle piastre a fori allungati e delle piastre triangolari). Per uniformità con gli altri 3 modelli di Double Deck Bus (set 6, 7 e 10) in collezione ho usato i pezzi rosso-verde chiaro post 1958.

In questo modello sono previste molte più strisce, piastre flessibili, viti e dadi di quelli contenuti nella scatola 8, di contro non sono impiegate né le piastre flangiate né quelle triangolari e pochissime strisce piegate. Quindi non è stato molto difficile sostituire le piastre flessibili con quelle flangiate o quelle triangolari, guadagnando in robustezza ed estetica, così come le strisce piegate hanno rimpiazzato le strisce. Il motore elettrico E20R è stato sostituito dal moderno 700 3-6V DC con il portabatterie, che con una riduzione 1:50 è agevolmente in grado di muovere il Bus.

Molto più laborioso ridurre di circa 90 unità il numero di viti e dadi, ma la semplificazione di alcune parti (pavimento, frontale,  tetto…) e l’eliminazione di molte viti e dadi ridondanti ha consentito di non superare la dotazione della scatola 8. L’aspetto del modello finito è decisamente gradevole e non inferiore a quello del Magazine, se non per la mancanza delle ruote gemellate sull’asse posteriore e della striscia curva #89 che borda il frontale del cofano.

 

The model of slightly higher dimensions than that of the manual outfit 7 is in fact much more detailed and true to the original, one of the last Liverpool Corporation Buses, the AEC Regent V. On the cover of the Meccano Magazine of March 1954 there is the picture of the bus in service on the line 86.
This was a double-decker bus with front engine produced by Associated Equipment Company between 1954 and 1969. The Regent V was the last realized in the range of double-decker Regent produced by AEC. The body of these vehicles had a length of 10 m (34 ft), whereby the scale of the model is about 1:19 and 1:18 in length and in width, so very proportionate.
With small changes I made feasible with the outfit 8 post 1954 (the presence of elongated holes in the plates and triangular plates). For consistency with the other three models of Double Deck Bus (Set 6, 7 and 10) in the collection I used Meccano parts light red-green post 1958.
In this model are provided for many more strips, flexible plates, screws and nuts to those in Outfit 8, by contrast are not employed or flanged plates or triangular ones and very few double bent strips. So it was not very difficult to replace the flexible plates with the flanged or triangular ones, gaining in strength and aesthetics, as well as the double bent strips have replaced the strips.
The electric motor E20R has been replaced by a modern 700  3-6V DC  with the battery holder, which with a 1:50 reduction gear is easily able to move the bus.

Much more laborious reduction of approximately 90 units the number of screws and nuts, but the simplification of certain parts (floor, front, roof …) and the elimination of many screws and nuts redundant allowed me to not exceed the equipment of the Outfit 8.
